Introduction
Arunodaya University successfully hosted a national seminar on “Understanding the Dynamics of Social Sciences in Contemporary Society” on April 25, 2025. The event provided a platform for scholars, researchers, and students from various disciplines to engage in discussions on the evolving role and challenges of social sciences in today’s world.
Objective of the Seminar
The seminar aimed to promote interdisciplinary dialogue, emphasizing the relevance, methodology, and application of social sciences in addressing key societal issues. Topics covered included inequality, cultural shifts, political transformations, and the impact of digital disruption.
Inaugural Session
The inaugural session commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Ms. Hage Opi, Head of Political Science, formally welcomed the guests, including Prof. Dr. C.V. Joshi, who was felicitated by Registrar Dr. Pramod Shinde.
The keynote speech by Prof. Nishamani Kar from Rajiv Gandhi University emphasized the relevance of social sciences in contemporary society and inspired the Presenters and attendees with insights on integrating traditional knowledge with modern research. The session was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of Arunodaya University, reaffirming the university’s dedication to academic excellence.
Technical Sessions
The seminar featured two technical sessions, conducted both offline and online, covering diverse themes:
- Transformations in Sociology and Anthropology
- Political Behavior in the Digital Age
- Economic Inequality and Social Justice
- The Role of Education and Policy in Social Development
Renowned speakers from Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills Doimukh, and independent think tanks presented thought-provoking research, followed by interactive discussions.

Participation and Engagement
The seminar attracted over 20 delegates, including faculty members, Ph.D. scholars, and postgraduate students. Engaging paper presentations, Q&A sessions, and panel discussions fostered meaningful discourse and critical analysis.
Conclusion
The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, Vote of Thanks was offered by Mr. Mige Kambu, Asst. Prof. Dept of Political Science eventually certificates were distributed, and final remarks were delivered. Participants left with enriched perspectives and a renewed commitment to advancing towards social science research.
